NEWCASTLE-ON-TYNE. WINNER OF THE LONDON GUN TRIALS IN 1858. 1859. 1866 & 1876' (largely indistinct), 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, wall thicknesses below recommended minimum, Pape thumblever opening action, patent no. 2488 of 1867, carved percussion fences, rebounding bar-action sidelocks with carved hammers, border and partial acanthus scroll engraving, 14 1/4in. figured stock with ornate chequering, steel heel and toe plates, weight 5lb. 7oz.
